A large flat on the second floor of a historic building in the central district of Saint Petersburg. The building, part of the Pushkin Palace complex, was built in 1843 and used as a tenement house. In the 80s, all the supporting structures were rebuilt, preserving only the facade with the high Romanesque windows and the rich brick masonry

Between challenge and ispiraiton<\/strong>
The main goal was to keep the main advantages of the original apartment, such as large volumes and historical details, and to create a comfortable space for living and working. We wanted to design a flat with open space and well-defined areas. For this reason, we renovated the main enfilade with a picturesque view of the tree-lined avenue and added a double-opening high door to separate the sleeping area. The second floor, with home office and bookcase, was designed as a living area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Concept and result<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To emphasize the historical aspect of the building, we decided to keep the brick masonry, rich and colorful. On the other hand, most of the walls and the supporting elements have been painted with neutral colors. The light shades highlighted the spatial structure and created the ideal background for the color accents given by artwork, furniture and decorative details.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For thew floow we chose to combine simplicity and tradition too. The ideal solution was Mardegan Legno parquet. We chose Russian Coffee oak planks from the Loire Castles collection, whose sandblasted surface is combined with brick masonry to make the interiors warmer and more welcoming. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
