Machine smoothed for a particularly smooth surface. Bevel on 4 sides.
Brushed
A series of brushes remove a minimal part of the softest surface to emphasise the flames. Bevel on 4 sides.
Sawn
This surface treatment on 7.2 mm thick wood slat evokes the most ancient process of sawing. The marks left by the blade on the surface are then smoothed by hand. Bevel on 4 sides.
Hand Planed and Antiqued
This is the most complex manual treatment, combining planing and ageing to reproduce the style of bygone days and the signs left by time. Bevel on 4 sides.
Hand Planed
Skilled craftsmen plane every single board by hand using blade planes. The surface comes to life, creating a play of volumes and movement on the floor. Bevel on 4 sides.
Rounded and Hand Planed
In addition to hand planing, the long sides of the boards are also rounded manually to give the floor an attractive “wave” effect.
Aged
Hand smoothing to create “groove” effects along the top and edges of the board. This creates the pronounced three dimensional effect of a surface marked by the signs of time. Rounded and irregular bevel on 4 sides.
Sandblasted
This very high pressure process removes the softest fiber of the wood, creating the effect of a surface marked by the signs of time. Bevel on 4 sides.
Sawn and Sandblasted
The 7.2 mm thick wood slat are sawn and sandblasted. The enhanced grain down the length of the board combines with the marks left by the sawing to create a geometric pattern exclusive to Mardegan Legno. Bevel on 4 sides.
Rounded and Sandblasted
The wave effect on the long side of the boards gives the surface a three-dimensional effect, while sandblasting emphasises the naturalness of the wood grain. Bevel on 4 sides.
Soft Planed and Sandblasted
Very gentle planing performed only on large boards, which are then enhanced and enriched by sandblasting. Bevel on 4 sides.
Hand Sculptured
This exclusive manual process is performed by master craftsmen using chisel blade planes. The result is an evocative interweaving between the marks left by the sculpting and the grain of each individual board. Bevel on 4 sides.
Engraved
Reserved exclusively for the Palatine collection, this process recreates the unique atmosphere of ancient noble palaces. Deep incisions run lightly along the piece, revealing the most intimate beauty of the wood.
