Paragon 700 boutique Hotel

“Can you imagine the final result as soon as you enter an old building to be renovated, or is the process gradual?” “I imagine it right away”. So begins the conversation with Pascale Lauber, designer and owner, together with Ulrike Bauschke, of Paragon 700, a recently opened Boutique Hotel & SPA in Ostuni.

Historic palace
Entering Palazzo Rosso, which was already the home of the first mayor of Ostuni and the patriotic events related to the “Giovane Italia”, one gets the impression of discovering a dream world. Actually, it is not the first time I set foot inside the historic Palazzo Tanzarella: in 2018 I had the pleasure of visiting the renovation site, which stopped for two days to host the contemporary art exhibition “Cantieri mentali”, Works of Caio Gracco. It is inevitable, after such an experience, not to dwell on the intellectual process that leads to such extraordinary results.

Harmony

In the rooms of Paragon 700, objects from all over the world coexist in perfect and studied harmony together with pieces of local craftsmanship. Large chandeliers found in Thailand, sofas and headboards from South Africa and designed by Pascale Lauber, ID Living, African braziers transformed into bathtubs, wardrobes and bedside tables found in antique markets around Italy.

Original style

This eclectic and very original style, made of unusual but also perfectly balanced combinations, is Pascale’s trademark. His style has been built up during a lifetime of travel, visits to art and antiques fairs, but also to local markets. The unique, coherent, deeply modern result is the basis of the exceptional atmosphere that dominates every corner of the Paragon 700.
